ORATILE PAPI KONOPI & MONOTYPEBABE
Presents: O nwa Eng?
Our idea for the zine was to create an interactive object rather than something akin to a book, so we chose a playful, nostalgic format—a cootie catcher. A cootie catcher is a simple device, a piece of paper folded to guide users through personal choices, some serious and some lighthearted, leading to an unexpected outcome. It’s inherently interactive, as players fold the paper and ask a friend to participate. Our zine, “O nwang?” is a cootie catcher that evokes a childhood game but incorporates mature themes. It represents how life unfolds through everyday choices, where fate and chance factor into different outcomes. Printed on a single sheet, the zine features a template of the game on one side and an artwork titled “Khetha Mina” (choose me) on the other. These mysterious encounters reflect how the choices we make—good or bad, random or considered—lead us to unexpected experiences.
